Summary of Programs

Dodona Manor Tourism Program

We have discovered that one of the best ways to teach a large number of people about the spirit and personality of great men is to turn their homes into biographical house museums. With this in mind, we are restoring Marshall's home as a museum where everything is exactly like it was when George and Katherine Marshall were in residence. This means the home will be authentic from magazines on the table to tooth brushes in the bathroom. This also includes restoration of Marshall's beloved extensive gardens.

Speaker and Special Events Program

We have a long-standing Speakers and Special Events Program that has brought members of the Atlantic Partnership to Leesburg as speakers and guests for cultural exchange. We plan to build a conference Center to enhance and expand this program.

School Education Program

This program had it's origins in 1992 when the Commission of the European Communities donated $10,000 which was matched by a gift from Virginia's Ferguson Enterprises to produce 30,000 teachers guides on George Marshall and the Marshall Plan to distribute to schools and libraries all over America. This program, which was a great success, has encouraged us to attempt a more ambitious program. We are currently working with Loudoun Country Day School to develop a pilot curriculum that would be teacher friendly and informative.
Our intent is to create a curriculum, complete with a teacher guide and student handouts that could be distributed throughout America and be used repeatedly to teach students and teachers about George Marshall, the Marshall Plan and the Western Partnership. Far too many Americans simply do not know anything about the geography, history or true culture of America's western partners.

Educational Documentaries Program

We are helping Educational Film Center (EFC)/Christenson Associates to create a documentary for PBS on the Marshall Plan for national and international broadcast on the 50th anniversary of the Marshall Plan and for educational distribution.
This will be the second documentary that we have helped to underwrite. The first documentary we encouraged and helped to underwrite, "George C. Marshall and the American Century," received an Emmy. This new documentary on the Marshall Plan also promises to be an equal success. We hope to educate our audience about the conditions leading to the creation of the Marshall Plan, the implementation of the Marshall Plan and the creation of the European Community by Monnet, Bidault, Spaak, Marjolin, Stikker, and de Gasperi.
